Building an "intelligent edge"

Definition: outside limit of an object, area, or surface; a place or part farthest away from the center.

Example: "cement mill at a construction site", "city center retail outlet" or a "urban school camera".

Wherever located, the edge is often where humans interact with information and technology systems. Making these edges intelligent enables technology to use information and take decision to (re)act in order to ensure our safety, increase efficiency of simply inform us better. 

Intelligent Edges are already used in many industries like manufacturing, healthcare, smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and of course, retail, where real-time data processing and decision-making are crucial. 

We bundle the below technologies to realize an industry specific "Intelligent Edge": 

• Instant and secured connectivity: Transporting with data prioritization and quality of services (SDWAN/ SASE) to transport data timely and securely and manage decentralized deployments.
• Decentralized Processing: Instead of sending all data to a central location, processing occurs at the edge (e.g., on IoT devices, gateways, or local servers). This reduces latency and allows for faster decision-making.
• AI and Machine Learning: Incorporating AI algorithms directly into edge devices enables them to analyze data in real time and make intelligent decisions without needing to wait for cloud processing.
• Data Filtering and Management: Only critical or summarized data is sent to the cloud, reducing bandwidth requirements and ensuring only relevant information is transmitted.
• Enhanced Security: Processing data locally can reduce exposure to cyber threats, as less data is transmitted over potentially vulnerable networks.
• Centralized Management: for an Intelligent Edge to be usable the deployment needs to be centrally configurable and simply manageable. It requires a templated approach with enough variability to allow for local specificity.
